Spanish solar developer Abengoa has brought environmental approval from Chile's Asistencia de evaluacion ambiental (SEA) in connection with their Atacama 2 solar complex not too distant of Sierra Gorda, in the Antofagasta neighborhood of Northern Chile.
The Atacama 2 solar complex will typically 100MW PV plant and a 110MW concentrated solar power (CSP) plant. Ones CSP installation will also include a winter energy storage system able to result in electricity for 15 hours owning direct solar radiation.
Construction generally the project is expected to start interior of two months.
The Atacama 1 solar farm complex model is currently under structure near Maria Elena, also throughout the Antofagasta region with another 100MW PV plant and a CSP deposit with 17. 5 hours because of storage.
